Join us for the Sturgeon Bay St. Patrick's Day Parade, Saturday, March 13, 10:00, Sawyer Park on the west side of the cannal.

During the past month our focus has been on Kewaunee County.  We have had contact with over 1,000 Democratic voters.  We are about to hold the third Meet and Greet event, this time in the City of Kewaunee at the Kewaunee Inn (the old Karsten Hotel).  The Kewaunee hosts invite you to join them Saturday, March 27, 9:00- 11:00 for a cup of coffee, yummy danish and a chat.

Thanks to the hard work of committees headed by Bill Prloff and Francha Barnard and the great music of Fred "Doc" Heide, Eric Lewis and Holly Feldman, last Thursday's Democratic Party of Door County fund raiser was a "rousing" success!  Someone counted over 90 people in attendance.

Stop in at the office.  We are part of the combined Door County Democratic campaign so there's someone at the office at 62 S. Third Ave. in Sturgeon Bay, almost every weekday afternoon and early evening.

As I prepare to leave you alone until after the Holidays, here’s what has been accomplished:
. Dick has been concentrating on fund raising and reaching out to constituencies including farmers, unions, environmental-ists and elected officials.

. I have been building the campaign organization including a unified office for all Democratic campaigns and key volunteers for Dick’s campaign.

. The website is up and running including a blog for news and, thanks to Ron, the ActBlue account for donations.

. Holly is working on a training manual for all volunteers based on the Wellstone manual. Laurel is working on guideline for people willing to do coffees. 6 people have volunteered already to host a coffee.

. We have raised about $10,000 to fund the early campaign. Thank you one and all!

. We are a “targeted” race for the Wisconsin Democratic Assembly Campaign committee, which will eventually help with fund raising and support staff.

. Cong. Steve Kagen has publicly expressed his support and made a financial contribution to the campaign.

. 73 people have offered to help in someway!

    THANK YOUs
Thanks yous already to Carol, Ron, Bill, Challoner, Holly, Pam, Francha, Margaret, Cal, Irene, Melissa, Dianne, Jim, Sonia and Tom. Ken and Sandy, Melissa Jo, Molly, Michael, Josh, Jake, Linda, Laurel and Kirsten, Phil.

    Our Mantra

    KEY ISSUES
Issues highlighted by Dick in recent conversations have included:
land use- finding common ground and agreement between competing interests and needs; bringing farmers, conservationists, and developers together to promote economic sustainability and protect the environment. It’s in everyone’s best interest!
    • support for small businesses- creating opportunities for growth, supporting buy- local initiatives, forming health care buying groups and using targeted grants to promote the new green economy. Small farms must not be taxed out of existence.
    • education financing reform- past administrations have played smoke-and-mirrors with a looming crisis. Now we must do something to ensure our students have first class opportunities and stay competitive in the world marketplace.
    • DWI/ Alcohol Abuse- we need stiffer penalties to get drunk drivers off the road and ensure they have the opportunity to get treatment before they injure someone. AND, we need to enforce the laws we have on the books like penalties for selling to minors. Huffing among elementary school students in “the new high” and a major concern. The Aaron Wake Foundation and Rep. Bies got legislation passed, now enforce it!

Saturday, November 21, 10:30- 1:30 we will do our first literature drop in the Brown County Township of Scott (east of UW-GB). Can you help? If so, please call Allin Walker, Campaign Manager 920-493-2912.

    58 and COUNTING
After kick-off events in Brown, Door and Kewaunee counties, 58 people have volunteered in large and small ways to help Dick win the privilege of representing the First District in the Wisconsin Assembly.

Thanks yous already to Francha, Margaret, Sonia and Tom. Ken and Sandy and Kirsten.

“I AM RUNNING AND I INTEND TO WIN”
That was Dick’s message at the three kick-off events. Those attending said back to him: “Based on the issues and how important they are to the future of this District and State, YOU MUST WIN! Based on the numbers Allin presented, YOU CAN WIN! And, we know it will be our hard work and commitment that will ensure that YOU WILL WIN!”
